The Ruckle family gathered twice for sad occasions in 1943. This picture was taken at the funeral of the mother of the "12" Mabel Ruckle. Later that same year Catherine (#3 in this picture) passed away near Thanksgiving time. So the family decided to get together the next year at Thanksgiving for their first reunion. The 2009 Ruckle Reunion (the 65th!) was held in Phelan, CA, at the beautiful new hilltop log home of Dan and Naomi Morgan. Naomi is Deanna's daughter and Eleanor's granddaughter.
